It has been a heart-warming journey fulfilling the brief proposed last October. Much of the work on display is bespoke to the National Memorial Arboretum as I charted this beautiful park through the seasons.
My brief included the themes: Sacrifise, Grief, Reconciliation, Rememberance, Freedom, Love amongst others.  I've tried to reflect the deep sentiments of this park and also pay homage to the arboreturm as a living entity in its own right.  So, true to the symbolic nature of everything on the site, nothing in my paintings are depicted by accident.
Cultures throughout time have developed a visual vocabulary associated with the flora and fauna around us. I've encorporated some of them within my paintings.  Welcome to my exhibition and enjoy discovering the story behind the imagery.

The Lichfield Society of Artists dates from 1945; it's purpose is to bring fellow artists together in a friendly atmosphere, to promote & encourage the visual arts in the Lichfield area. Art students, others accomplished amateurs, beginners, leisure artists and professionals make up the current 240 membership. Join them on facebook.

I was originally introduced to this friendly society in the 1980's. Then as an amateaur and now as a professional artist I support their good work for each other and the Lichfield area. This year I have entered two paintings from my NMA series in the members Spring exhibition 2014.

The exhibitions always display many forms of stunning art work, including paintings in oils, acrylics and watercolours, drawings, sculptures and ceramics. This year is no exception!

It will take place in the 3rd floor Gallery at Lichfield Library on The Friary, from Saturday, March 15 until Wednesday, April 9 during library opening hours. I will be stewarding from 9 - 11 am on Friday 21st March & 9th April. Look forward to seeing you then!

The Majestic Sea - Dana Point  After having one of “Sunny's” beautiful ocean scenes of San Clemente, CA on our wall, I asked Sunny to create a Dana Point scene of my special place where I often sit mesmerized on the other side of the rocks (foreground of painting) and enjoy what is in store for me that day. 

'Niki'  We opened our package this morning, and there was our beautiful Niki smiling up at us. You have captured the essence of the Samoyed, the black around the eyes, his shaggy mane and his lovely smile. You've incorporated the beach (his domain) the sea and the blue sky. The soft colours remind me of the Edinburgh Winter scene which is always pink and blue because the sun is so low in the sky. Thank you so much for him. We Love our Painting. We will now have a bit of him (and you) with us always.

'High Bridge'  was commissioned as a retirement present for me by colleagues. It brings back many happy memories of my childhood walking along the river bank with my family. A much preferred gift to a tankgard or gold watch and it captures the strength of the bridge and the tranquility of the river flowing beneath.

'Rowboat'  is one of my treasured possessions which I was fortunate enough to acquire at a charity auction in 1995.· This 'little boat' was my second painting by Sunny and both have been much admired by many people over the years.

The Scene is a view of our 16th century Weavers House set in a beautiful village in Brittany.
